Antiquities
A general term for ancient items that date from before the Middle Ages, antiquities are especially identified as items from civilizations along the Mediterranean Sea. Artwork from Roman, Greek, Egyptian and other Near East civilizations are most commonly referred to as antiquities. A term popular during the scholarship of the Early Modern period, the expression has fallen out of style because of its inexactitude.
